Dashboard for State Electricity Company
PLN Indonesia, Jakarta
2022 (1 week)
Strategy & Design
Who is PLN Indonesia?
PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) ( lit. 'State Electricity Company', abbreviated as PLN) is an Indonesian government-owned corporation which has a monopoly on electric power distribution in Indonesia and generates the majority of the country's electrical power. The dashboard dealt with 3 verticals which are Asset Management, Financial Risk and Environment Social Governance (ESG).
My Role
As a UX designer and strategist, I worked with the AD and a team from McKinsey to understand and prioritise the requirements of the PLN team while creating user flows.
The workshop had begun with understanding design and its needs. Before the workshop, I did a SWOT analysis and the pitch deck and presented the pain points to the client, to frame the requirements. Post a 3 day workshop I worked on the design for the screens that were cocooned in data visualisations and data analytics. Existing screens were vetted in an audit and improvements were discussed with the client.
Information Architecture for ESG Dashboard
The Design Workshop
A 3 day extensive design workshop was hosted by our team for the clients to ideate on the Financial Risk Management, ESG Management and Asset Management Dashboards. I was the facilitator and worked on the pitch deck for the workshop. This includes the ice breaker, SWOT analysis and pending questions on the current state of the dashboard.
I also worked on the prioritisation of the next steps and note taking during the presentation. The client aided in prioritisation by understanding their 5 and 10 min views of the features I had flushed out from the presentation and current dashboard flows shared to me. The features were also mapped into flows with the client to improve understanding of the high-level and detailed views.

Testing Flow
Post the workshop, the flows discussed were identified and mapped as information architecture, screens from the existing dashboard were worked on to scrutinise the problems in both data and design. An audit was also done on the current design artefacts and was taken to the stakeholders for feedback on suggested improvements and its impact on the current workflow.

Final Output
Post the ideation workshop, audit and reworking on the user flows, I flushed out final screens with the data that was provided by the client's current dashboard and from the teams themselves. I was able to also provide inputs on the design system and rework on hierarchy on the screens. I had also marked out what is recommended and what works on each screen to provide the client with valuable insights for decision making.
Various Approaches provided to the client for a feature on the dashboard.
Problem Statement
How might we create the structure of the dashboard for our executive leadership and key employees in the organisation for the following :
1. ESG Management
2. Asset Management
3. Financial Risk Management
Takeaways
Ideation Workshop helped scale this project to understand the requirements while speaking to different users in each vertical contributed to solving more pain points.
Audit and data analysis helped in creating simple yet effective user flows.
